Anniversary Celebrations When You're Chronically Ill

Hubby and I were so excited yesterday!  We had the entire day to celebrate our 32nd anniversary.  I woke up early and he had brought home some lovely blueberry muffins for breakfast.  They were really delicious.  I took all my morning medications and drank some coffee.  My head hurt and my back was also pretty bad.
Anniversary Celebrations

My body didn’t care that it was my anniversary, unfortunately.  My dizziness was awful, so I rested on the couch all morning.  I kept trying to get up and get a shower so that we could go out and do something together.  During this time I got depressed, for a while.  It’s a rotten way to live.  No one wants to be held hostage by your body. Every time I tried to get up, I was so nauseated and tired…..
Well, by 3pm Hubby and I prayed that I could get up and make it for a shower and go out to eat.  I took some herbal supplements and rested.  At 5pm I finally got a shower and we went out.  I didn’t feel good, but I did feel better.
We enjoyed ourselves and laughed so much.  Love certainly grows over 32 years!  I’m very thankful for my husband.  God brought me the perfect husband; He knew exactly the right man for me.  Anniversaries are a wonderful time to remember and talk about that.  Counting our blessings was fun.

In the past, we spent the entire day out and about, doing activities together on our anniversaries.  Because of my chronic illnesses, we can’t do that now.  Hubby is very understanding.  He is just as happy watching tv at home with me, or grilling out on the patio.  As long as we are together, we can be happy.  Anniversary celebrations are about togetherness and memories.  I hope your memories are sweet.
