Day 3 Video EEG

Day 3: Video EEG was the only good day.  My answer finally came from the doctor.  He said that there was no sign of seizures.  After all of the strong spells that I had last night, nothing showed up on the EEG.  So, nothing that was happening in my body originated in my brain as a seizure.

Day 3
Good-bye EMU Room

This great news allowed me to come home.  The technician came and removed all the wires from my head.  I was allowed to shower and check out of the hospital.  I will also be able to gradually stop taking the anti-seizure medicine.  This should be stopped within three weeks.  What a great moment it will be when I stop Topamax for the last time.  My short-term memory can gradually return!

In the meantime, I'll be meeting with my general physician to discuss other reasons for my sickness.  The idea from one doctor that it could possibly be hot flashes is something to check into.

Blood Test

I just had a message from my general doctor saying that my potassium was high and she wants to re-test on Friday.  My cholesterol is also not good.  It sounds like there are some things that will be changed in my diet, if nothing else.  I hope my insurance holds up.

At the end of the day, I'm thankful that my Video EEG only lasted 3 days.  I'm very grateful that seizures have been ruled out for me.  I still have other struggles ahead, but this one serious problem is no longer something that I'm facing.  I thank God for that.
