Baby Birds

One thing I've enjoyed on our travels, is watching a robin's nest.  The four babies have been stretching their long necks high above the nest as the parent flies back and forth bringing them nourishment.  They've grown so very fast!

Late yesterday afternoon, the most brave one climbed to the top and flew!  I saw him (or her) flapping his wings and fly down.  Then, we saw him flying around a lot the rest of the evening.  The parent is still feeding the other three in the nest.  They are working so very hard to feed them!  I wonder if they ever take a break from feeding their babies?

It's put me in a mood, thinking about my own children.  Wasn't it that way with my children, too?  It seemed like that when mine were babies.  All they wanted was their mom.  When they were babies, they wanted to nurse all the time.  When they got older, they always wanted mom with them.  You know, those years when mom can't even go to the bathroom without the children knocking on the door.

Now, my children are adults.  Two married children don't need mom anymore.  They have their mates, and I'm so happy that they are happy.  We raise them to be independent and able to do well away from us.  Our goal was for our children to grow up and turn to God for their needs.  I'm thankful that my kids pray.

It's wonderful to have those memories of our children when they were little.  This stage of life is also wonderful, but I wish life would slow down.  Since it doesn't, I'll try to enjoy each day that I have with my family.  God gives us so many blessings!

And all thy children [shall be] taught of the LORD; and great [shall be] the peace of thy children. Isaiah 54:13
